I was born in Bristol, England on 2nd August 1958 and have been in my time a cocktail waiter, lorry driver and soldier. Before  leaving for the US in September 2001 I was the supervisor / trainer / programmer in the PReS department of a large Direct Mailing house. At the moment I'm a student studying computing. It seems that 25 years after I thought my schooling had finished I'm back again.

Don't blame the programmer, we have to earn a living too. If you want your name taken off the mailing lists then contact the Mail Preference Service, at the address below, where your name will get added to another list. Sorry, but I don't know of any similar organisation that can stop you getting spammed.

This statement was true right up until I met Patty - Best moment in my life - the day I married my first wife. Second best moment - the day she left.

This site was started in early 1999 and so, judging by previous work, should be nearly finished by 2005 and should be running properly about a year and a half later. Oops, got carried away there, thought I was working for Microsoft for a moment.

I passed my 1 mile swimming test in 1984, even though I'd swallowed so much water I could have walked the last 1/4 of it.

I've now left Bristol and live in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA

I haven't yet got a server here but hope to get one as soon as I can. When the new site is up and running I'll arrange for an automatic redirect from this site to the new one. I've got plenty of material left for the site as well as some ideas for new pages.

Until I get an email address of my own I can be contacted at my web based mail at brisray@yahoo.co.uk

Many thanks to those who contributed 'constructive critisms' as you can see I've totally ignored your advice. Thanks must go to some of the people at work who showed me what Web pages can do and to Andy Grasemann who helped enormously.

Thanks for visiting this site, especially those of you who have taken the trouble to email me. I didn't include a counter on this site as I would have been embarrassed if, after 3 months or so, it still only registered my visits here to check it is still working. From the emails I've received it seems it has been both an interesting and informative experience which is how this site was intended.

This is for Mary, who wanted a mention :-

In April 2001 I received an email from the writer of the site called The Angel Harris Collection. He wanted some technical advice but he also asked if I had anything to contribute to his site. After a bit of thought I decided to write a short piece about some aspects of my life for him. The results can be seen at Some Thoughts And Memories From A Man Called Ray. The AngelHarris site that the article is on no longer seems to be updated. As there was some more I wanted to add, I've put the whole text HERE.

On a happier note, I gained my Degree of Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology on 6th May 2004. Pictures of the graduation are HERE.

Someone has suggested that I include a few pictures of myself, so here they are:-

Warning:- Those of a weak or nervous disposition should proceed with caution!
