In Greek mythology Zeus was reported to have been suckled by the goat Amalthea, and Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome in the eighth century bc, were thought to have been suckled by a she-wolf. Direct suckling from animals is well documented throughout recorded history and persisted in Europe and other places into the twentieth century. Source: Encyclopedia.com
