Take a look at the lower right of the above image. Someone had spent a lot of time piling those rocks up...

An expected find for me was this rock.

Westbury Leigh, where John Cogswell and his family came from, is 22 miles southeast of my home city of Bristol, England. The Angel Gabriel set sail from Bristol on May 23rd, 1635 along with the James, Diligence, Mary and Bess all carrying passengers looking for a new life in the New World. She pulled into Pemaquid Bay on August 13th and set anchor to try and ride out the storm that wrecked her on August 15th. There's more about the ship at Wikipedia and the French Family Association websites.

Another of the places we planned from the start to visit was Lubec and West Quoddy Head the easternmost places on the continental United States. I just realized something, if West Quoddy is the easternmost point where is East Quoddy? Actually it's on Campobello Island just northeast of Lubec and it belongs to Canada.

There's been a lighthouse here since 1808 and this version dates from 1858
