Introduction
A couple of years after obtaining my Associates Degree from Ivy Tech in 2004, I started working there as a technician. As well as helping with the cabling - and there was a lot of it - I helped look after the classroom electronics - computers, projectors, smartboards and so on. Some of the classes were live shared with some smaller satellite campuses, so I helped with the televising of those - controlling the cameras and microphones. The college also has a small theatre so I helped with the lighting and microphones in that, sometimes recording the preformances as well.
Broadcasting
Part of what I did was closed-circuit broadcasting of classes held in Terre Haute to some outlying campuses. Two ceiling-mounted cameras and several microphones were wired through a compact console. The console would also allow the classes to be recorded.

Audtorium
To help people visualize what sort of lighting they could use in the auditorium I made an interactive Adobe Flash SWF file.

Keeping It Real
One of the strangest jobs I did while working at Ivy Tech was visit Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, a maximum security prison, just north of Carlisle, Indiana. We were there to help some of the prisoners make a film of their experiences. All the people we spoke to were murderers and most were never expected to be set free.
