Irishman's Covered Bridge
This bridge spans Honey Creek in Vigo County,
Indiana. It was built in 1845. Because of
floods extensive repairs were necessary in 1851.
It is one of two Indiana covered bridges
employing modified queen post truss construction.

Well, I had to have at least one postcard of a covered bridge in the collection and both Riley and Fowler Park are very close to Terre Haute. The bridge is also known as the Irishman Covered Bridge. It has a length of 75 feet, or 85 feet including the 5-foot overhang at each end, is 14 feet wide and 13 feet high. Built in about 1847 by C. W. Bishop, the bridge was moved to its current location in Fowler Park in 1972 where it crosses a section of a pond and is surrounded by period log structures. For more Indiana covered bridges see A Tour of Indiana Covered Bridges and Special Sights and the Indiana Covered Bridges List. The Indiana Covered Bridge Society has a great website.
