Published Expressly for S. H. Knox & Co.
Made in U. S. A.

I have another copy of this postcard posted in Terre Haute on July 1st, 1911.

This building stood at 674 Ohio Street. The Terre Haute Landmarks website also mentions a Knights of Pythias lodge in the White Block at 426-428 Wabash Avenue but I don't know the dates either of these lodges were in use.

The Knights of Pythias is a fraternal organization founded in Washington, DC on 19 February 1864. The Knights of Pythias was the first fraternal organization to receive a charter under an act of the United States Congress (approved May 5, 1870). It was founded by Justus H. Rathbone, who had been inspired by a play by the Irish poet John Banim about the legend of Damon and Pythias. This legend illustrates the ideals of loyalty, honor and friendship that are central to the order. (From Wikipedia)

Situated near Brown and Wabash Avenues this appears to have been a privately owned park. Whilst it was called Lake View Park it was operated by Henry Breinig. Over the winter of 1907/08 it changed hands and became the property of the Terre Haute Amusement Co. with August Fromme assuming duties as president and general manager. Brothers August and Herman Fromme maintained several successful businesses at the southwest corner of Seventh and Hulman Streets and August retained the park's flourishing features but altered others to attract more family gatherings. It reopened on June 7, 1908 as Fairland Park.

The same photograph was being used on the postcards of Fairland Park at least as late at 1910.
