Saint Mary of the Woods
Saint Mary of the Woods was founded in october, 1840 by six Sisters of Providence from Ruille-sur-Loir, France, under the direction of Mother Theodore Guerin. The school they established for the education of young women has since developed into a four-year college with nation-wide recognition and clientele.
Accreditment
Saint Mary of the Woods is accredited as a standard colege by the Indiana State Department of Education and by Indiana University. Affiliated with The Catholic University of America and the American Medical Association, Membership in the North Central Association of Colleges, The Association of American Colleges, The Catholic Educational Association, The American Council on Education. Registered by the University of the State of New York (Regents).
Curricula
The College offers standard courses leading to Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, Bachelor of science in Music, Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Bachelor of Science in home Economics. Major sequences may be chosen in art, biology, chemistry, commerce, and finance, English, French, history, home economics, journalism, Latin, mathematics, music, physics, social science, Spanish, speech and dramatics.
Equipment
There are five college buildings, including two residence halls, the conservatory of music, library, well-equipped science laboratories, gymnasium, and swimming pool. The student rooms are attractive and comfortably furnished. The campus of many acres provides ample space for outdoor sports - riding, hockey, archery and tennis.
Expenses
The yearly cost of board, tuition, room and fees is approximately $800.00
