Patty's parents were "SnowBirds", that is they live in one part of the country, in their case Illinois, and move somewhere warmer in the winter. In their case that was southern Florida. In January 2002, we visited them in their winter home, on the way down we visited the Bristols in Tennessee/Virginia and Georgia. Unfortunately, it was dark when we got to the one in Georgia, we really must visit the place again. On the way back, the one in Florida.
There was a slight incident on the way to Bristol, Georgia. Getting close to the town I was going a bit fast and got stopped by the police. He asked for my ID and driving license when I gave him my British passport and UK driving license I think I surprised him a bit. He asked if my driving license was valid in the US, I said yes. I was fairly certain it is, but didn't know for sure. Luckily for me, after warning me that he could actually jail me while they check out my documents he let me go on my, much slower, way.

Bristol, was originally known as Lightsey after early resident Jack Lightsey. The settlement served as a modest trading and farming outpost along emerging trade routes in southeast Georgia. The name was later changed to Bristol by Lemuel "Lem" Lightsey, honoring the English city of Bristol, reflecting naming traditions common among settlers of British descent.
It an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce County, Georgia, United States. Bristol is located at the intersection of the concurrent Georgia State Route 15 and Georgia State Route 121, which runs north-south through Bristol, and Georgia State Route 32, which runs east-west. Bristol is 10 miles (16 km) north of Blackshear.
Bristol, Georgia is small, with a population of just over 100. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Bristol as a town in 1914, but the charter was dissolved in 1995 which means it is now unincorporated. It was first listed as a census designated place in 2020.
