Introduction
There are four places named Bristol in Ohio; Bristol in Perry County, another Bristol in Morgan County, along with Bristolville, and North Bristol. Bristolville and North Bristol are just three miles apart and east of Cleveland. Bristol in Perry county is 60 miles east of Columbus and the Bristol in Morgan County is 33 miles further east of the Bristol in Perry county.
The two Bristols, it's 33 miles between them.
Bristol, Perry County
This Bristol was originally named Burlington, and as that was laid out in 1816 by Samuel Smith and Jacob Hollenback.
Bristol, Morgan County
This Bristol was laid out in 1831 by Thomas Stevens. The town was sometimes called Muttonburg by the local inhabitants because of the large amount of the meat they would eat. This Bristol was named for its location within Bristol Township. A post office called Bristol was established in 1834, and remained in operation until 1915.
Bristolville
Bristolville is an unincorporated community was first surveyed by Alfred Wolcott who settled there in 1804. The town was founded in 1807, and named after Bristol, Connecticut, the place from where Wolcott had arrived from.
