Getting there was quite an adventure:
Bristol, Washington is an unpopulated, unincorporated (no local government of any sort) place on highway 10 in Kittitas County. We were staying with friends in Salem, Oregon and decided to try and find this place. We drove the 300 miles, up through Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier to get to it. There were still millions of trees lying down at St. Helens, and the ash dam they built is full to overflowing. We got to the top of Mt. Rainier and some (American) guy was arguing with one of the park rangers because "I've driven all this way and it's cloudy - make them go away." We saw the top of it, you just had to get above the clouds - you could see them blowing through the valley below us.
Bristol was hard to find; we were driving up and down WA10 for ages. We saw some fishermen and asked them where it was. Eventually we stopped and wandered around, and there it was - just a lopsided sign by the side of the railway track.
